Healing 10 Man Festergut

This strategy will focus on the Ice Crown Citadel (ICC) Festergut 10 man normal mode encounter. Festergut is located within the left wing of the Plague works quarter of ICC.  What should you expect in the Festergut encounter? Festergut is a Patchwerk style encounter with heavy tank and moderate raid healing. In short, expect to heal your tail off.

:: Raid Balance ::

Determining the balance of healers in this encounter is dependent upon your raid dps. In this encounter the raid must produce 31,374 dps sustained dps in order to finish off Festergut within his 5 minute enrage timer. Reasonably, if each of the two tanks produce 2,200 dps (see below Gastric Blight); then your raid must produce 5395 dps to three heal the encounter OR 4496 dps if the raid is two healing the encounter. Do expect some range dps loss as this fight will require some movement upon their part.

Fight Composition
2 Tanks
2 to 3 Healers
5 to 6 DPS

:: The Fight ::

Once the encounter has been activated, the two tanks should position Festergut within the middle of the room. The raid team should be divided in to two parts. The first group (Group A) stacks upon Festergut while the second group (Group B) stays back from the raid. As illustrated from the diagram, we place one healer (group A) under Festergut and one healer (group B) in the center of the range.   Festergut will produce four stages of damage.

* Stage 1 :: 0 Inhalations
  Heavy Raid Healing. Minimal Tank Healing.

* Stage 2 :: 1 Inhalation
  Moderate-Heavy Raid Healing. Moderate-Light Tank Healing.

* Stage 3 :: 2 Inhalations
  Moderate-Light Raid Healing. Moderate-Heavy Tank Healing.

* Stage 4 :: 3 Inhalations
   Light Raid Healing. Heavy Tank Healing.

When the tanks pull Festergut, the entire room will be filled with a poisonous gas cloud which produces heavy raid damage. As the fight continues on, Festergut will inhale portions of the gas. With each inhalation Festergut will begin to hit harder, but the good news is the raid damage diminishes. After third inhalation the poisonous gas cloud will have dissipated and your tank will be receiving heavy damage. But don’t rest on your laurels yet. This fight is just not that easy. Festergut after his third inhalation will not be able to hold the gas within him. He will exhale producing a heavy hit to the raid. If your tanks and raid members are not healed up quickly this will be a wipe. If you are three healing the encounter, then have two healers each assigned to cover a separate group while one healer remains focused on the receiving tank. If you are two healing this encounter the tank healer must provide moderate assistance to the raid healer at this time.

The key to conquering this encounter is the coordination of the Inoculations and Gastric Bloat. What are inoculations and how is it acquired? During the fight encounter two spores will randomly spawn. These spores will explode in small radius after twelve seconds. Upon exploding they provide a small buff to those within range that reduces the Pungent Blight explosion by 25% per application. This will occur approximately three times. Individuals must acquire two of the three inoculations in order to survive a Pungent Blight.

Coordination of the inoculations is fairly easy. If possible divide your raid in to two groups (A & B). Group A stacks under Festergut. Group B stands at range with a healer in the center. At various points in the fight Festergut will cast Gas Spores upon two of your raid members. Group B should collapse upon the healer in their center. After twelve seconds the Gas Spores will detonate producing an inoculation upon all within range. Group B, after being inoculated, resumes their original position. IF, two spores occur in the same group one individual should move to the other group.

Coordination of the Gastric Bloat is based upon the tanks. This encounter requires a minimum of two tanks to swap when one tank acquires 9th stack of Gastric Bloat. If the tank swap does not occur, upon the 10th stack the tank will explode dying in the process and causing massive aoe damage. This essentially is a raid wipe.
Rinse and repeat this encounter.

:: Tips for Holy Priests ::

    Apply Prayer of Mending on every cool down upon your tank.
    Maintain a Renew upon your tank to assist main tank healer.
    Keep Group A topped off with Circle of Healing. They will be receiving additional heals from your prayer of mending.
    Prayer of Healing upon Group B. Use the center Healer of Group B as your target to cover all of Group B.
    Upon third inhalation top raid off and focus upon healing main tank.
       Circle of Healing may be reserved for the big explosion in order to top raid off quickly.
    Divine Hymn : Use at your own discretion.

:: Tips for Discipline Priests ::

   Throughput is key.
   Keep a Renew upon your tank. Try to avoid clipping.
   Use Prayer of Mending upon every cool down.
   Interweave Holy Nova prior to the third inhalation to assist the raid healer.
   Divine Hymn : If you are main tank healer, coordinate with your raid healer to cover main tank. Otherwise, use at your own discretion.
